Nayagarh: The Pari murder case took a new turn on Thursday as Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) chairperson Sandhyabati Pradhan suspected that the 5-year-old girl might be a victim of human sacrifice.
Pradhan, who visited the house of Pari’s parents and others in Jadupur village of Nayagarh district on the day, said since the minor girl’s body was found in the village, she might have been killed there.
On the allegation that Pari was a victim of human organs racket, she said, “As her body was found in the village, whether her kidneys were taken out or not can be ascertained only after a detailed probe.” The skeletal remains of Pari were recovered from near her house in July.
A massive outrage across Odisha over Pari’s murder that led her parents to attempt self-immolation demanding justice for her in Bhubaneswar before the State Assembly on November 14 led the government to order an SIT probe.
The girl had gone missing while she was playing near her house in Jadupur village on July 14. Almost 10 days later, her skeletal remains were found from the backyard of her house.
