Odisha CM Announces Special Package For Bulbul-Hit Farmers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced a special package for the six cyclone-hit districts of the state.

Following are the announcement made by the Chief Minister during the review meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan here after his aerial survey of the affected districts in the afternoon.

—Input subsidy of Rs 6,800 per hectare of non-irrigated land to be provided to small and marginal farmers who have sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above.
—Input subsidy of Rs 13,500 per hectare of irrigated land to be provided to small and marginal farmers who have sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above.
— For all-season crops, the input subsidy of Rs 18,000 per hectare of irrigated land to be provided to the small and marginal farmers who have sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above.
—Under no circumstances, the input subsidy for the loss of all-season crops will be less than Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 for other crops.
—50,000 mini pulses kit to be provided to the affected farmers for the Rabi crop for the year 2019-20.
—The Agriculture department will hold a demonstration programme in 45,000 acres of land for the farmers of the affected districts.
—The affected farmers will be provided with 3000 sprayers at 50% subsidized rate. Maximum subsidy for each battery-operated and the manual sprayer will be Rs 3,800 and Rs 750 respectively.
—10,000 mini vegetable kit for 2019-20 Rabi season.
—Financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to each farmer for recovery of losses of 30 units of betel vines.
—Rs 40,000 to each farmer for recovery of losses of 40 units of mushroom units.
—Steps to be taken to provide hybrid seeds and other farm equipment to the farmers at the earliest.
—To facilitate the affected farmers with the benefit of the crop insurance scheme, the amount of crop insurance will be finalized with the assessment of crop loss after the crop-cutting.
—The short-term loan for 2019 Rabi crops will be converted to a medium-term loan for the farmers who have sustained the crop loss of 33 per cent or above.
—For the affected dairy farmers, financial assistance of Rs 30,000 will be provided for each milch cow and buffalo, Rs 25,000 for three non-milch livestock, Rs 16,000 for six calves, Rs 3000 for 30 goats and sheep and Rs 5000 (Rs 50 for each poultry bird)
—For the affected fishermen, Rs 4100 will be provided for partial damage of boat, Rs 2100 for partial damage of the fishing net, Rs 9600 for complete damage of boat and Rs 2600 for complete damage of the fishing net.
—For the affected fish farmers, the government will provide Rs 12,000 per hectare with an input subsidy of Rs 8200.
