Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced assistance of Rs 4 lakh for families of the four persons, who died in two separate mishaps in Odisha’s Malkangari district, which was hit by a powerful Nor’wester the previous day.
He directed the Special Relief Commissioner to provide this assistance and also free-of-cost quality medical care to those injured in the incidents.
Meanwhile, body of a woman was retrieved from Satiguda reservoir this morning, a day two person went missing after two boats capsized in the dam. A man is still missing. Two others – 19-year-old Mano Hembrum and 45-year-old Tilottama Beria – had died when an under-construction perimeter wall of Malkangiri airstrip collapsed as gale wind reaching over 150 km ripped through the district headquarters town. Three more labourers were injured in the wall collapse.
The CM also expressed deep grief over the death of two girl students, who drowned at Aryapalli beach in Chhatrapur block of Ganjam district after being swept away by a strong wave on Thursday and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to their families.
The deceased have been identified as Swapna Rani Pandit and Pragyan Rani Tripathy. Both girls were 20 years old and Plus II students.
