Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Human Rights Day, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed to all to raise awareness about the rights of people and eliminate inequalities and discrimination in his message on Friday, December 10.
“On #HumanRightsDay, let’s raise awareness about people’s social, cultural and physical rights and eliminate inequalities, discrimination. Reaffirm commitment to protect the inalienable rights of all to build a world which is just and inclusive,” Naveen said on Twitter.
Every year December 10 is observed as Human Rights Day — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
The Human Rights Day theme this year relates to ‘Equality’ and Article 1 of the UDHR – “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” The principles of equality and non-discrimination are at the heart of human rights.
