Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday distributed recruitment letters to 6,131 teachers for appointment in 1,075 schools in the first phase of the 5T High School Transformation Programme.
Inaugurating the orientation programme for the newly-appointed teachers at Kalinga Stadium here, Naveen said education is a reflection of the collective hopes and aspirations of the society.
Stating that children are the future of a nation, Naveen said teachers play a key role in instilling new hope, empowering their imagination, and engaging in learning. The Chief Minister advised the teachers to work for the development of creativity and confidence in the students.
Under the schools transformation, as many as 1,065 schools have been completed in the first phase, said Naveen. The teachers include 2236 arts teacher, 1779 science teachers, 829 Hindi teachers, 796 Sanskrit and PET teachers and 3 Telugu teachers.
Among others, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, Minister for Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Tukuni Sahu, MoS Science & Technology Ashok Chandra Panda and School & Mass Education Minister Samir Das were present.
The government had set a target to fill up 11,000 posts of teachers in the first phase. Only 7,000 applicants have cleared the exam conducted by School and Mass Education Department while 4,000 were found ineligible for the reserved post.
