Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi felicitated Sweta Rani Mahanta of Jindal Sports Hostel for winning a bronze medal at the recently-held 12th Asian Junior Wushu Championship in China.
Majhi felicitated Sweta on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 64th Senior Men’s Inter-District Football Championship, at Keonjhar Stadium.
Expressing happiness over the achievement of a girl from the tribal-dominated region, Majhi said Sweta made all of Keonjhar district proud with her fourth international medal.
Sweta expressed thanked Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, and its chairperson Shallu Jindal for their continued support, providing necessary training and facilities that contributed to her success.
Shallu said Jindal Foundation was ‘immensely proud’ of Sweta’s bronze medal win at the Asian Junior Wushu Championship.
“Her success reflects not only her dedication but also the impact of structured support for tribal and rural talent. At Jindal Foundation, we remain committed to nurturing young athletes through holistic support in training, education, and exposure,” she said.
Sweta apart, many other athletes from Jindal Sports Hostel such as Prem, Rajkumar, Bablu and Manju Munda have won 10 medals at different international events in Moscow, Brunei and Brazil in recent months.
