Cuttack: The Silver City Boat Club on the banks of river Mahanadi at Cuttack was thrown open to public on Wednesday.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the recreation facility through video conferencing. In his virtual address Naveen said “We are rapidly developing tourism and hospitality infrastructure in identified areas by incorporating water bodies. The water sports facility in boat club in Mahanadi will help in establishing Odisha as a sought-after tourism hub.”
The boating club, located near Mata Math-Gadagadia Ghat in Cuttack, has been constructed by Odisha Tourist Development Corporation (OTDC) at an investment of Rs 2 crore. It aims to promote tourism through water-based recreation activities in the river.
While banana boat will be one of the main attractions, there will be other water sports facilities like jet, speed boat, cruise boat, kayaking, pedal boat, house boat, 30-seater float café, 15-seater pedal boat and six-seater pedal boat.
Visitors and tourists can use the common infrastructure and facilities at the club by paying a user fee.
