Odisha CM Inaugurates Two More Berths Of Gopalpur Port
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated the second and third berths of Gopalpur Port in Ganjam district.
With a cargo handling capacity of 20 Million MTPA, the Rs 2,000 crore port will boost maritime trade and commerce and create employment opportunities for 8,000 youths, said Naveen while addressing a huge gathering on the occasion.
Gopalpur Port is expanding its capacity to 25 MT all-weather operations in this phase with an overall vision of 55MT by 2025, he added.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Rs 172-crore Harbhangi irrigation expansion project, which will help to irrigate 3,763 hectares arable land in 32 villages, along with that of 11 piped water projects in Sheragada and Hinjili blocks and 13 piped water projects at Dharakote and Sanakhemundi blocks.
The foundations were also laid for the development of Karamanganala road in Hinjili block and a bridge over Baghua river connecting Brahmanachai-Bolsara road.
After winding up his visit to Ganjam district, the Chief Minister later left for Gajapati district and inaugurated 57 welfare projects worth Rs 48.84 crore.
The projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister include a mega piped water supply project worth Rs 190 crore in Kashinagar and Gumma blocks, another mega piped water supply project and Mahendratanaya irrigation project worth over Rs 214 crore in Mohana block.
Besides, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of 783 welfare projects worth Rs 582.40 crore in Paralakhemundi, Gosani, Gumma, Kashinagar block and NAC area, Mohana, Nuagada, Raigada and R. Udayagiri blocks.
