Kendrapara: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday laid foundation stone of a mega drinking water supply project under ‘Basudha’ (Buxy Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations) scheme at Sarumuhi and Petachhala villages under Mahakalpada block in Kendrapara district.
According to official sources, the Rs 241-crore project under the aegis of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department would benefit 200 villages of the district.
Notably, the mega drinking water supply project would benefit the people of 148 villages under Mahakalpada block and 52 villages under Marsaghai block.
Elaborate security arrangements were made in the district for the Chief Minister’s visit.
On November 24, the Chief Minister had inaugurated a mega drinking water supply project at Jatni in Khordha.
On November 22, he had laid the foundation stone of a proposed mega drinking water supply project, at Gomundia under Brahmagiri assembly constituency in Puri district.
According to official sources, the Rs 183-crore project on the banks of Chilika lake would benefit 147 villages of Puri and Ganjam district.
Altogether, 92 villages under Krusna Prasad block in Puri and 55 villages under Chhatrapur block in Ganjam district would be supplied drinking water through this project.
