Bhubaneswar: In a major push for industrialisation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday laid foundation stones of 27 new industrial projects across 12 districts in Odisha.
These projects, with investments of Rs 25,379 crore, are expected to generate 51,826 jobs in districts of Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Khurda, Koraput, Angul, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Puri, Cuttack, and Sambalpur.
The SRF Limited plans to invest Rs 10,000 crore in Ganjam district, creating around 20,000 jobs. Likewise, Epsilon Carbon Ashok Pvt Ltd will build a major facility in Jharsuguda with an investment of Rs 5,806 crore, generating 2,500 jobs. In Khurda district, Shree Bajrang Power and Metallics Ltd will establish a rare earth minerals project in Sahaspur, Gediapalli, and Santrapur, investing Rs 2,096 crore.
“Investors are increasingly trusting the Odisha government’s policies and commitment to industrial development. To position Odisha as the manufacturing hub of eastern India, efforts are being made to attract investors for high-value product manufacturing. The state aims to produce globally competitive products by moving up the manufacturing value chain,” the CM said at an event held at the Agriculture Education Hall of OUAT in Bhubaneswar.
Majhi noted that the BJP government has approved 260 industrial projects, attracting Rs 5.6 lakh crore in capital investment and creating the potential for 3.6 lakh jobs, within 15 months of assuming office. “During this period, foundation stones for 84 industrial projects have been laid, facilitating over Rs 2 lakh crore in investments and generating 1.64 lakh jobs,” he said.
The CM further stated that Odisha is poised to become a key industrial and investment hub through initiatives like Utkarsh Odisha 2025, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. “Odisha offers conducive policies and sector-specific incentives for setting up industries. Bureaucratic hurdles have been removed, and the government is always ready to support industrialists in resolving any challenges they face during the establishment process,” he added.
He also stressed the role of youth in driving a self-reliant Odisha and highlighted the state-Centre partnership in accelerating reforms and building trust. “As we take bold steps in industrialisation, we are equally committed to sustainability. On September 17, to mark the 75th birthday of the Prime Minister, as many as 75 lakh saplings will be planted across Odisha. This initiative symbolises our pledge to balance economic progress with environmental responsibility. I firmly believe that with collective effort, we will build a prosperous, green, and Samruddha Odisha that will play a pivotal role in shaping a Viksit Bharat,” he added.
