Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has called an urgent high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan on Monday evening to review the state’s preparedness amid potential disruptions to energy supplies due to escalating conflict in West Asia.
According to sources, district collectors will attend the meeting via video conferencing, along with senior officials and department heads. Discussions will focus on assessing district-level situations, ensuring uninterrupted supplies of essential commodities like fuel, LPG, and petroleum products, and formulating a comprehensive roadmap to tackle any emerging energy crisis. Key priorities include preventing black marketing, artificial shortages, and price spikes, while maintaining smooth distribution networks.
This followS alerts from the Centre regarding possible disruptions in gas and petroleum supplies due to the ongoing West Asia tensions, which have raised concerns over global energy routes, including the Strait of Hormuz. The Odisha government has already assured citizens that there are currently no shortages of cooking gas or fuel in the state, while urging people to avoid panic buying.
Majhi had earlier participated in a virtual meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with chief ministers of non-poll-bound states. In that discussion, he apprised the PM of Odisha’s readiness to handle the situation, ensuring that accurate information reaches every citizen and availability of essential commodities remains uninterrupted.
Modi emphasised a collaborative “Team India” approach, calling on states to work in unison for effective crisis management, vigilance against hoarding, and ensuring stability in essential supplies.
