Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi moved into his new official residence in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
As per information, the Chief Minister held the housewarming ceremony at 10.47 am after a number of rituals were performed.
Several rituals, including the worship of two cows, were performed before ‘gruha prabesh’ by the Chief Minister. A priest associated with the ceremony said that the rituals began with cow worship, followed by other processes. Majhi was accompanied by his wife while stepping into the building.
Notably, the official CM residence on the road connecting Raj Bhavan and AG Square had remained unoccupied for the past 26 years. The building was last used by former Chief Ministers Janaki Ballabh Patnaik and Giridhar Gamang. Thereafter, Naveen Patnaik chose to stay in Naveen Niwas and the building remained unused.
After becoming the Chief Minister, Majhi initially stayed in the state Guest House for a few day sand then the government quarters on Gandhi Marg for around eight months.
