Bhubaneswar: Three lecturers of the Government Polytechnic in Jajpur have been suspended for alleged indiscipline. The action was taken following direction from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The suspended faculty members have been identified as Senior Lecturer Nrusingha Charan Behera, Lecturer Sandeep Mahapatra, and Lecturer P Aradhana.
According to complaints, a dispute began on October 26 during a staff meeting. The situation escalated rapidly as the faculty members engaged in heated verbal arguments, which later escalated into physical violence and other undignified behaviour inside the institute premises.
The altercations took place not only during official discussions but also in full view of students, deeply disrupting the academic atmosphere of the college.
Taking strong exception to the incident, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that teaching is a noble and respected profession. Engaging in unruly behaviour and violence, especially in the presence of students, severely tarnishes the reputation of the academic institution and sets a harmful precedent.
Given the gravity of the misconduct, CM Majhi directed that all three educators be placed under suspension immediately. Additionally, departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against them to ensure long-term accountability across the state’s educational landscape.
