Bhubaneswar: At the valedictory session of the two-day Collectors & SPs Conference, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday emphasised strengthening law and order, citizen-friendly policing and seamless coordination between administration and law enforcement.
CM Mohan Majhi listed out 8 key focus areas for the SPs:
— Strategy to improve conviction rate
–Register every complaint, no refusal
— Inspect police stations regularly
–Collector-SP coordination as one team
–Zero tolerance for corruption
–No harassment of innocents
–Training on BNS, BNSS & BSA
–Smart use of technology
CM Majhi also expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Odisha Police, highlighting their success in solving sensitive cases promptly. He stressed that ensuring people-friendly services and security is a key priority, adding that maintaining peace and effective governance is essential to draw investments and achieve the goal of a developed Odisha.
The CM also advised for making Odisha Naxal-free by 2026. He directed the SPs to take stringent action against drug trafficking, land mafia and economic offenders and intensify road safety enforcement at accident-prone areas. “Focus on checking over-speeding and drunk driving,” he said.
Majhi also stressed strengthening coordination with Coastal Security, Coast Guard and Navy to prevent infiltration.
During the inauguration of the conference on Tuesday, the CM had sent out a strong message to district collectors: crack down on corruption, strengthen governance and win back public trust. He asked the IAS officers to work honestly and tirelessly, ensuring coordination for smooth execution of schemes. He also directed them to prevent illegal mining of minor minerals, crack down on illicit liquor trade, provide legal aid to tribal communities for minor forest produce and curb paddy smuggling during procurement season. He reiterated the need for corruption-free and transparent governance and wider use of Odia in official communication.
The CM also urged collectors to use Odia in govt documents, notices and advertisements and to treat public representatives with respect.
