Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will not celebrate his birthday, on October 16 due to the damages caused by cyclone ‘Titli’ and floods in the state. He made this announcement on Monday.
In a media briefing, Naveen wished the people on the occasion of Durga Puja but said that his birthday should not be celebrated tomorrow.
He has also requested his well-wishers and ruling BJD party workers and leaders not to organise any function.
Naveen was born on October 16, 1946 in Cuttack.
Earlier, in 2013 and 2014 also, he had not celebrated his birthday due to cyclones Phailin and Hudhud.
Three some districts of Odisha – Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada, were severely affected due to cyclone ‘Titli’, heavy rain and the subsequent flood.
Many houses were completely damaged. As many as 18 persons died in Gajapati district.
