Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the newly-built campus of Odia University at Satyabadi in Odisha’s Puri district through video conferencing.
The varsity, which will be a centre of excellence for research and development in Odia language, has been constructed over nine acres of land near the famous Bana Vidyalaya. Use of Odia alphabets in the design and architecture of this beautiful and serene campus and its administrative building lends it unique look.
The campus includes a School of Learning with a capacity of 200 students, a hostel block each for male and female students with a capacity of 64 students, another hostel for 16 scholars, library, cafeteria, an administration block and a well developed ‘Kunda’ (water body). The university offers admissions in three subjects– Odia Language and Literature, Linguistics and Natural Language Processing and Regional, Tribal Language and Heritage Studies.
Naveen had laid the foundation stone for the university on October 9, 2018.
In August, educationist Sabita Pradhan was appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the varsity.
Last month, 5T chairman Pandian inspected all the individual blocks, including progress on landscaping works and internal road works and instructed the authorities to complete the first phase of construction work on the university campus by January 15.
