Odisha CM Removes ‘Arrested’ BJD Leader As State Warehousing Corporation Chairman
Bhubaneswar: Following his arrest in a double murder case, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday removed BJD leader and former MLA Anup Sai from the chairmanship of the State Warehousing Corporation.
he was appointed to the post in August 2019. The former MLA was also the campaign committee chairperson for Bijepur Assembly seat from where Naveen fought the 2019 elections.
A three-time MLA from Brajrajnagar assembly constituency, he had quit Congress and unsuccessfully represented the same constituency for BJD in 2014.
Sai has also been expelled from the regional party with immediate effect, an official release said.
The former MLA was picked up from his house here on Wednesday night by a police team from Chhattisgarh and taken to Chakradhar Nagar police station in Raighar district for interrogation.
The case pertains to the alleged murder of a woman, identified as Kalpana Das (32), and her daughter Pravati Das (14) in April 2016. The bodies were allegedly disposed off in Chhattisgarh.
He was arrested the following day for his alleged links with the murder of the mother-daughter duo.
