Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday submitted several proposals, including a special educational institution, for promotion of Hindi in the state.
Speaking at a meeting of Central Hindi Committee, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, Majhi said there was a need for opening a special institution on Hindi to promote the national language. Besides, the number of Hindi teacher posts needs to be increased, he said.
Stating that translation of literary creations of Odia and Hindi was necessary, he proposed to open a special translation centre with financial assistance from the Centre’s national language department.
He stressed cultural exchanges to promote Hindi and called for more cultural programmes in both languages at state and national levels. Litterateurs and intellectuals of different states should participate in such programmes, he added.
The chief minister also suggested opening of an inter-language research institute for promoting research on the literary works of both Odia and Hindi. He also called for special Central aid to the states to improve the infrastructure and manpower for Hindi education.
Several Union ministers including JP Nadda and Dharmendra Pradhan and Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahatab attended themeeting.
