Bhubaneswar: The public grievance hearing session of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi scheduled for Monday (April 27) has been postponed in view of the sweltering heat prevailing across Odisha.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), in a press statement on Sunday, said that the session, where the Chief Minister personally hears public grievances, will not be held on the planned date to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors and staff amid the extreme temperatures. The next date and schedule for the grievance hearing will be announced later.

Notably, the state government has also advanced summer vacations for schools starting April 27 to protect students from the scorching conditions.

The grievance cell, located at Unit-V in Bhubaneswar, allows citizens to directly present their issues before the Chief Minister. The scheduled April 27 session was to be held from 7 am to 12 noon after a gap of more than two months. Citizens were asked to register through the Janasunani portal or the Janasunani mobile application from 11 am on April 22, to request a meeting with CM Majhi.

The 17th public grievance hearing was held on February 10 and subsequent hearings had to be cancelled since the Assembly was in session.

During the last public grievance hearing, Majhi had said that the structured grievance redressal had yielded tangible results, with 94 per cent of complaints disposed of by then. He added that special emphasis has been laid on grievance redressal under the government’s 15-point directive aimed at making the administration more citizen-friendly in the new year.
