Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to turn around the drop in mining revenue and has set a target of Rs 7,100 crore for 2018-19, said mines minister Prafulla Mallick.
In his reply to a question raised by MLA Dillip Ray in the Odisha Assembly on Friday, the minister said, “Revenue of Rs 5, 674. 52 lakh was collected from 14 mining circles of Odisha in 2012-13. However, despite an increase in revenue, the same fell to Rs 5, 567.4 crore in 2017-18.”
While a revenue of Rs 5, 507.4 crore was collected in 2013-14, it dropped to Rs 5, 330.43 crore in 2014-15. Similarly, in 2015-16, state’s mining collection revenue rose to Rs 5, 624.4 crore, and again fell to 4, 541.28 crore in the following fiscal. Hence, the government has set a target to achieve a revenue collection of Rs 7,100 crore this year, Mallick added.
