Bhubaneswar: Odisha had collected Rs 954.62 crore as state GST (SGST) in March 2021. This has been the highest ever monthly SGST collection recorded by the state since the implementation of GST in July 2017.
The previous highest SGST collection in a month was 927.60 crore in April 2019.
An official in the state Finance Department said that with the collection in March, the government has recorded a growth of 21.55% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. In March 2020, the SGST collection was Rs 785.35 crore.
“The record collection of SGST in March 2021 came despite below par performance in some sectors due to the adverse effects of COVID-19. Moreover, during the first quarter of 2020-21, there was a decline of Rs 761.19 crore in SGST compared to the first quarter of 2019-20 fiscal year,” the official was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
