[Watch]: Odisha College Students Send Rakhis To Jawans At Border Posts
Jajpur: Ahead of Rakhsha Banhan on August 22, some students of Chitola College in Jajpur district have sent rakhis to soldiers, posted at border posts.
With COVID restrictions in place, most of the soldiers cannot go home for celebrating the festival. In keeping with the tradition of sisters tying rakhis for the safety of their brothers, the girl students of Chitola College have sent rakhis to the borders by post.
“Rakhi Purnima is a special day for all brothers and sisters. We want to tie rakhi to the Jawan brothers who are always available for the protection of our country,” said Ankita Swain, a student.
Expressing their love and respect, these girls tried to encourage the soldiers.
“The soldiers at the borders protect us day and night. Due to the nature of their duty, they miss out on celebrating many festivals, including rakhi, in their homes. We are sending rakhis to make them feel special on that day,” said Jyoti Prava Tripathy, a student.
Notably, girl students of Chitola College have been sending rakhis to the border posts for the past few years. The college authorities also help the girls in this noble work.
