Odisha Colleges Without CCTV Can’t Hold Plus II Exams: CHSE

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has clarified that colleges will lose their status as Plus II examination centres if they fail to provide information about CCTV camera installations by January 10.

The Council, which will adopt the ‘remote access connectivity programme’ from the forthcoming exam, scheduled to begin from March 3, has decided to cancel the status of the examination centres if they fail to meet CHSE’s requirements regarding CCTV within the time frame, media reports said.

The direction comes as CHSE has decided to strengthen the monitoring of Plus II examinations.

Controller of exams Bijay Kumar Sahoo has directed the principals and practical examination centres of self-financing colleges to ensure CCTV camera installation at examination centres, offices and rooms where sealed packets are opened and at those places where public involvement remains high.

The centres have also been asked to ensure power back-ups and internet connections to CCTV cameras for remote monitoring of the exams.

Talking to Odisha Bytes earlier, Sahoo had said that the ‘remote access connectivity programme will help the officials to monitor the exam centres, conduct of the examinations and examinees from the CHSE head office as well as from the district headquarters. “There would be dedicated passwords which will help us get access to CCTV footage,” he had said.

About 30 examination centres last year had failed to install CCTV cameras despite several communications from CHSE.
