Bhubaneswar: Celebrating the 134th foundation day of the Indian National Congress, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) took out a ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The rally began from Congress Bhawan and made its way to Raj Mahal Square.
Speaking to the media, leader of Congress Legislature Party Narasingha Mishra lashed out at the BJP and alleged that the country’s governance is now in the hands of traitors. “They have left no stone unturned to destroy the constitution by all means. This has evoked a countrywide protest by students and youths,” Mishra said.
“The people of India want a drastic change in the governance and reestablishment of democracy in accordance with the constitutional norms in letter and spirit. The BJP should read the writings on the wall that the democracy in our country is deep-rooted and the people will give a fitting reply if anyone tries to interfere. The people have given their reply and the result of the Assembly election in Jharkhand bears ample testimony to it,” he pointed out.
OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said the Congress demands safety and respect to the Constitution, management of the bleak economy of the country, security to women and employment generation.
Asked whether the rally will give new hope to the Congress in the new year, he told the media to wait and watch.
