Odisha Congress Spokesperson Jayashree Patra Alleges Police Apathy Over FIR Registration

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Congress spokesperson Jayashree Patra on Friday levelled allegations of apathy on Cyber police personnel over registration of an FIR.

According to Patra who had come for filing an FIR against unidentified miscreants who hurled abuses on her over social media, she was not treated appropriately at Cyber Crime police station under Bhubaneswar UPD.

Patra said, “On arriving at the police station I was told that the person who deals with social media has gone for having snacks. After waiting for a while I was told that the FIR will be sent over Whats App.”

The Congress spokesperson went on to add that she was sent a Station Diary copy instead of an FIR which she had particularly demanded. “When I called up for the FIR copy, I was told to approach the police station near my home,” she added.

On Friday, Patra met a senior official at the Cyber Crime police station who assured her of proper investigation into the matter and registration of the FIR appropriately, she stated speaking to the media.

“I was told that the cop I met earlier was perturbed with my complaint due to which there was a delay in the process. Why should a police personnel get scared of someone who has come to the station seeking justice,” questioned Patra.
