Odisha Congress’ Statewide Agitation Against ED Quizzing Rahul Gandhi, Police Atrocity
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Congress has called for statewide agitation to protest against the marathon questioning of former president Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over the charges of money laundering in the National Herald case.
The party will stage demonstrations in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Sarat Pattanayak had announced. Party leaders and activists will also demonstrate in front of all central government offices at the district level on June 17 against police excesses on workers, he added.
Notably, Congress has filed a complaint over Delhi Police entering party office, attacking workers amid ED questioning of Rahul. Congress leader Sachin Pilot had also tweeted about being detained at Narela Police station after being picked up while entering the party’s headquarter in the national capital.
Rahul was quizzed for nearly 30 hours in three days and will go back to the ED office for another round of questioning on Friday (June 17).
Sarat along with leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Narasingha Mishra said that the central government is misusing CBI and ED to intimidate political opponents.
The Congress leaders called upon the people of Odisha to support the protest against the autocratic rule of the Modi government at the Centre, which they alleged was using unconstitutional methods to achieve its stated goal of Congress-mukt Bharat.
