Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress will announce the name of its party candidates for the ensuing Assembly elections scheduled next year within 15 days.
Announcing this to the media after presiding over the first meeting of the newly-constituted Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, AICC leader and Odisha in-charge Jitender Singh said a meeting of the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) will be held on Monday where the name of at least 50 candidates will be announced.
“The PEC meeting will decide the criteria for the selection of the candidates for the ensuing Assembly elections,” he added.
For strengthening of the party at the grassroots, he said all senior leaders and workers of the party have to be closely associated with the booths in their respective localities. Their work will be judged on the basis of their performance, he pointed out.
Singh further informed that the meeting decided to review the work of the PEC every month.
The two-day meeting of the PCC would conclude on Tuesday.
