Bhubaneswar: The total number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha touched 13,737 on Monday as the state reported the second-highest single-day spike of 616 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases reported from 23 districts, 415 have been detected from quarantine centres while 201 are local contact cases.
According to I&PR department, Ganjam district reported the highest 283 followed by Koraput (50), Nabarangpur (40), Bargarh (31), Khurda (29), Balasore (27), 23 each from Keonjhar and Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur (18), Jajpur (17), Malkangiri(14), Mayurbhanj (13), Jharsuguda (11), seven each in Angul and Dhenkanal, six from Kandhamal, five each from Sundargarh and Nuapada, two each from Bhadrak and Balangir and one each from Gajapati, Kendrapada and Puri.
It is the second-highest single-day spike since July 10 that saw 755 COVID positive cases.
With 70 deaths and 8750 recoveries, Odisha now has 4896 active cases.
