Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha went up to 5752 on Wednesday with 282 new positive cases being reported from 17 districts in the last 24 hours.
According to a tweet by the I &PR Department, 256 of these cases have been detected in the quarantine centres while the remaining 26 are local contacts.
Gajapati recorded the highest of 76 cases followed by Ganjam (75), Khurda (26), Jharsuguda (23), Balasore (3), Cuttack (4), Jajpur (6), Puri (9), Angul (1), Jagatsinghpur (11), Kandhamal (17), Sundargarh (1), Sambalpur (13), Balangir (1), Mayurbhanj (6), Koraput (1) and Nayagarh (1).
Apart from this, eight NDRF personnel, who had returned to the state after Amphan duty in West Bengal, have also been tested positive for the virus.
With 15 deaths and 3988 recoveries, Odisha now has 1740 active cases.
