Odisha COVID Update: Daily Caseload Crosses 200 Again; Over 1000 Active Cases In Khurda Alone

Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a marginal rise in daily COVID caseload with 228 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state had reported 197 new cases on Monday, 191 on Sunday, 264 cases on Saturday, 219 on Friday, 335 on Thursday and 288 cases on Wednesday.

Among the infectees, 35 are between the age of 0-18 years.

According to the I & PR department, 134 are from quarantine and 94 local contacts. Khurda has reported the highest of 96 cases, followed by Mayurbanj (21) and Cuttack (17).  Seven districts saw nil cases.

Besides, 23 are from the state pool.

With these cases being detected from 50,099 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.45 per cent. The TPR was 0.37 per cent on Monday, 0.33 per cent on Sunday, 0.47 per cent on Saturday, and 0.37 per cent on Friday.

While the affected tally has touched 10,49,108, Odisha now has 2,338 active cases.

Khurda is the only district in the state with over 1000 active cases. Sambalpur and Cuttack are a distant second and third at 152 and 129 active cases respectively.
