Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 700 on Saturday as 630 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 116 infectees are in the age group of 0-18 years old, which is 18 per cent of the fresh infections reported from 29 districts in the state.
Odisha had seen 745, 771, 762, 638, 609 and 719 new cases on September 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, and 5 while the infection rate among children on these days was 15.9 per cent, 15 per cent, 13.3 per cent, 14.5 per cent, 20 per cent and 16.27 per cent respectively.
According to the I & PR department, 368 of the new infections are from quarantine and 262 local contacts. Khurda registered the highest of 221 cases followed by Cuttack at 118. These two districts account for 54 per cent of the caseload.

With these cases being detected from 63,817 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.98 per cent.
Odisha now has 7020 active cases.
