Cuttack: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police has arrested the former IIC, who was absconding for more than 3 years, from Cuttack.
The former IIC of Jaleswar police station in Balasore district, Dhaneswar Sahu, was wanted by police after an audio clip of his conversation with brown sugar smugglers on a deal went viral in 2020. He was immediately transferred to district police office.
Later, the DGP suspended Sahu from service and order an investigation into his alleged link with brown sugar smugglers. As Sahu went untraced, the investigation was handed over to the Crime Branch.
The Crime Branch finally traced Sahu and arrested him from his house at Narsinghpur in Cuttack on Friday, around 3 years and 7 months after the incident.
