Bhubaneswar: After an intensive investigation, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Sunday arrested the prime accused in the JE Civil main examination question paper leak case of 2023.
Sources said the accused, identified as Rajmohan Prasad, was nabbed from Bihar for his alleged role in the question paper leak in the exam conducted by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).
After being apprehended by Crime Branch sleuths, Prasad was brought to Odisha and produced before the court, which granted three-day CB remand of the accused.
The Crime Branch sought Prasad’s remand in an effort to gather more information regarding the paper leak network and involvement of others.
Earlier, Balasore Police had arrested several people, including a mastermind and teachers, involved in this inter-state racket that charged candidates up to Rs 10 lakh for the leaked papers, leading to a re-exam in September 2023 and a subsequent CID probe.
The arrest of Prasad is considered significant as he is suspected to have played a major role in the JE Civil exam paper leak. The Crime Branch sleuths will try to obtain vital information about the racketduring his interrogation.
