Odisha Custody Assault Case: Lady Police Officer’s Mother Moves HC Against Army Officer’s Fiancée
Cuttack: In a new turn to Bharatpur police station case in Bhubaneswar, the mother of lady police officer has moved the Orissa High Court against Army officer’s fiancée for disobeying the court order.
The mother of lady police officer, in her petition, has mentioned the court’s order on restraining revelation of the Army officer and his fiancée, who were allegedly assaulted by the lady police officer inside the police station, in the media.
The petitioner drew the attention of the court to an interview of the fiancée in a national television channel. She not only revealed her identity in the interview but also portrayed the personnel of the police station in bad light even as investigation was underway, the petitioner stated.
The police officer’s mother said this not only violated the right to privacy of the accused but also flouted the court’s order on September 23 and sought its intervention in the matter. The court has fixed November 3 for hearing the petition.
It may be noted that the state Crime Branch (CB), which is investigating the case, has moved a court seeking permission to subject sub-inspector (SI) Baisalini Panda, ASIs Salilamayee Sahoo and Sagarika Rath and constable Balaram Hansda to lie-detector test at the state forensic science laboratory in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
