New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Presence of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy CM K V Singh Deo and Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal in the national capital has fuelled speculation about impending political developments in Odisha.
While Majhi and Samal let for Delhi last evening, KV was already present in the national capital, having attended the Virgin Land Security Summit 2025.
On Wednesday, the Deputy CM called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He carried the sacred Mahaprasad from Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri with him as a present for the PM. “Had the honour of meeting Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji in New Delhi. A moment of profound gratitude, reflection, and shared commitment to building a Viksit Bharat with Odisha’s unique spirit and contributions at its heart,” he wrote on X.
He further added, “Presented sacred Mahaprasad from Shri Jagannath Dham–a symbol of unity, humility, and divine grace. It carries the blessings of millions of devotees and the timeless legacy of our land. May Mahaprabhu Jagannath continue to guide our collective journey towards an empowered, inclusive, and culturally enriched India.”
The meeting assumed significance as Majhi is also scheduled to meet the Prime Minister later in the day. The back-to-back high-level engagements have added fuel to the buzz about a possible Cabinet reshuffle or expansion in Odisha.
Besides possible expansion of the ministry with six ministerial berths currently lying vacant in Odisha cabinet, it was speculated that Majhi and Samal were summoned by the central leadership to finalise key organisational appointments, including leadership roles in various state corporations, and party’s key office-bearers in the state, aligning with the party’s broader strategy to consolidate its position in Odisha.
