COVID-19: Extra Vigil On Balasore, Mayurbhanj Borders To Check Intrusion From Bengal
Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Abhay on Sunday visited Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts to review COVID enforcement measures.
The DGP visited Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts where police vigil for COVID enforcement has been intensified to check movement people from crossing over the border from West Bengal.
Police sources said, 2 permanent border check posts at Laxmannath and Udaypur, Talasari in BLS and at Hatibari and Chaksuliapada in MBJ are active round the clock on Bengal border. Further, 22 temporary check posts set up in BLS and 32 in MBJ to seal the borders.
Apart from this 7 platoons of OSAP have been deployed at Balasore and 4 in Mayurbhanj.
The DGP said expressed satisfaction over enforcement drives in both districts as well as the night curfew.
ADGP (Law and Order) YK Jethwa, who accompanied Abhay, special border checkpoints have been set up at Laxmannath and Udaypur in Balasore district and Jamsola and Suliapada in Mayurbhanj district.
Besides that 28 shortcuts in Balasore district and 42 in Mayurbhanj district have been sealed to check unauthorised entry of people from West Bengal. Mobile squads are patrolling the border to check intrusion, he added.
