Odisha DGP Stresses On Healthy Working Environment For Women Cops
Cuttack: The Director General of Odisha Police Abhay on Monday emphasised on creating a healthy working environment in police stations to increase the confidence of women posted.
Interacting with women IsIC and SHOs of police stations on the occasion of International Women’s Day on virtual mode, the DGP also reiterated exemplary action in crime against women.
Congratulating the women officers for their leadership and contribution towards policing in the state, the DGP urged them to continue policing with dedication for the betterment of society.
The DGP said it is a proud moment that more than 100 police stations in Odisha are headed by women IsIC/SHOs. This is probably the highest number of women SHOs in any State in the country, a release by the Odisha Police stated.
The virtual interaction laid stress on: Improving functioning of police stations; more effective action in offence against women & children and challenges and problems of women police personnel.
The officers attending the meeting shared ideas like
(i) Need to organise more sensitisation programme in schools and colleges on crime against women and children.
(ii) Awareness among College/School students for safe use of social media.
(iii) Mobile toilet van for women police personnel deputed on law and order duty.
(iv) Barrack/Officers Club for women police officers/men at district headquarters.
(v) More training programmes to handle cyber crime.
(vi) More training to improve investigation of crime against women.
(vii) Family Counselling Centres at district level.
(viii) Self-defence training to women police personnel.
The DGP asked the district SsP and senior officers to act upon suggestions.
