Bhubaneswar: The world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and siblings is set to be held in Odisha’s Puri on June 27, 2025. To ensure a smooth celebration, the first preparatory meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania was held in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The meeting aimed to address crowd control and other issues faced during the previous year’s event.
Khurania directed senior police officers to initiate extensive preparations, considering the massive gathering of devotees from across the country and abroad. The rituals of the trinities will be celebrated on various dates, as per the tradition of Shree Jagannath Temple, an official release said.
The meeting discussed various issues, including the installation of CCTV cameras from Uttara Chack to Puri, traffic management, special arrangements to prevent stampedes, vehicle parking, and special facilities for the accommodation of police personnel. Other key topics included orderly vehicle arrangements, barricade systems, quick resolution of problems in collaboration with the district administration, and special facilities for orderly darshan of devotees.
