Odisha Districts To Get Chief Minister’s Education Award Under School Transformation Initiative
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said the Odisha government will award the districts for their performance in school transformation programme.
Speaking on the last day of the last day of the programme under 5T initiative, Naveen said the districts would be presented Chief Minister’s Education Award for their achievement.
While the 1st prize will carry a reward of Rs 3 crore, the second prize winner will get Rs 2 crore and the third prize winner Rs 1 crore. Similarly, top 10 blocks will be awarded cash prize of Rs 50 lakh each. The awards will be given at a grand state-level function, the chief minister said.
Further elaborating on the award, secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian said more the competition in education, better would be its quality. “Let’s celebrate education and achieve excellence in a competitive spirit. Besides districts and blocks, old students, headmasters, members of school management and panchayat members would also be rewarded for their contribution for promotion of education,” he said.
On the occasion, the chief minister dedicated 335 transformed high schools in 4 districts. Those include 98 schools in Cuttack district, 115 in Kalahandi, 49 in Malkangiri and 73 in Jajpur. With this, total 2,151 schools were transformed in the third phase of the programme. The government targets transformation of 6,132 schools in the state.
Ministers Ranendra Pratap Swain and Pramila Mallik, MLA Dibya Shankar Mishra and Malkangiri zilla parishad president Samari Tangalu were present on the occasion.
