Odisha Doctor Revives Passenger Midair In Lucknow-Bound Flight



Bhubaneswar: An Odisha doctor rushed to the aid of an unconscious passenger and revived him aboard a Bengaluru-Lucknow flight a week ago, drawing praise from co-passengers and the in-flight crew.

f the department of Surgery at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, run by the SOA (Deemed to be University), was flying to Lucknow to attend a conference aboard Indigo flight 6E-163 when the mid-air emergency arose.

An elderly passenger had taken a bite of a sandwich when he developed a violent cough and lost consciousness causing his wife to cry for help. At this, Sahoo rushed to his aid and tried to revive him employing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and fast-aid measures. The passenger was also put on oxygen.

It took several minutes before the passenger regained his consciousness to the utter relief of his wife and other co-passengers.

The doctor’s act drew profuse appreciation from the cabin crew. “Thank you for your immediate and genuine help. We couldn’t have done it without you!“ the crew members said in a note sent to the doctor.
