Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) has threatened to boycott work from July 1 to protest the state government’s alleged failure to meet the 10-point charter of demands of doctors.
The doctors’ association also threatened to resort to mass resignation over th
e issue if the demands are not fulfilled.
The demands raised by the doctors affiliated to OSMA include cadre restructuring, pay scale increase to Level 15, a transparent transfer policy, KBK exit policy, incentives for dentists, insurance coverage, and enhanced security for doctors.
According to association president Kishore Chandra Mishra, repeated talks with the government have not led to any concrete steps so far. As a result, doctors working in all government hospitals in the state have warned of a complete work stoppage from July 1.
This apart, OMSA has warned that OPD services will be closed next Wednesday. The move comes after the police allegedly did not take “any special action” following an attack on a doctor working at the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital.
The association said the protest aims to press for immediate redressal of issues affecting doctors and healthcare delivery in the state.
