Bhubaneswar: A documentary on Odisha’s famed 500-year-old filigree work has been officially selected for screening at the Lift-Off Film Festival in United Kingdom.
The 3.50 minute documentary, “Rupa Tarakasi” has been made by two Odisha youths, Deepak Upadhyaya and Divyalok Sinha. While Deepark belongs to Puri, Divyalok is from Bhubaneswar. They are both graduates in Editing and Cinematography respectively, of the Biju Patnaik Film Institute, Cuttack.
“We shot for two days at Mangalabag, Buxi Bazaar and some other places in Cuttack. Post-processing work took another two days,” said Deepak.
“We have showcased the history of filigree work in Cuttack and how it represents Odisha at the international level through Odissi, ornaments and others,” the 24-year-old added.
“From our experience, we have gathered that the next generation is not interested in filigree work,” said Deepak.
Earlier, Deepak’s short movie ‘The Last One’ had received the first prize at the Namo Gange Film Festival in New Delhi. The film was based on pollution.
“Our aim is to make good movies on social issues that concern the society as well as to showcase the culture of Odisha,” said Deepak.
