Odisha DSP’s 2 Sons Arrested For Fatal Assault On Man In Bengaluru
Bhubaneswar: Police have confirmed that two of three persons, who allegedly made a fatal assault on a 54-year-old man in Bengaluru on April 2, are sons of a police officer of Odisha.
As per reports, Anirudh Samantray (28), son of Keshab Kumar Samantray, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at State Crime Records Bureau in Bhubaneswar, had gone to attend a family function of his elder brother Basudev Samantray (34) in Bangaluru on the day.
After the function was over, Basudev and Anirudh along with their friend Abhishek Singh (31) went to a petrol pump to put fuel in their car. Later, they partied inside the car with blaring music in the wee hours. When the victim, Lloyd Nehemiah, brother of Indian Army officer Col David Nehemiah, objected to the music, he was assaulted by the three persons.
Lloyd, who sustained critical injuries, was admitted to hospital where he succumbed. He was laid to rest on Thursday.
Anurudh is an advocate working in an MNC in New Delhi while Basudev is a project manager in a construction firm in Bengaluru.
The police arrested Basudev and Abhisek on Thursday and produced them in court which sent them to police custody for 5 days. The police have arrested Anirudh in New Delhi and would produce him court on Friday.
Meanwhile, DSP Samantray has refuted the allegations against his sons. He claimed that a false narrative was being spread about them.
“It was LIoyd who started the fight over the issue of loud music saying that his mother was critically ill. He also abused Anirudh and attacked my two sons. A counter-complaint has been filed in HAL police station in Bengaluru. LIoyd’s death had nothing to do with the incident,” TOI quoted the DSP as saying.
