Bhubaneswar: Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain on Wednesday told the Odisha Assembly Rs 5,571.34 crore Value Added Tax (VAT) was collected from petrol (1,528.78 crore) and diesel (Rs 4,042.56 crore) in 2018-19.
Replying to a question from Congress MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, the Minister said Rs 317 crore has been collected as VAT from petrol and Rs 765.64 crore from diesel in 2019-20 (up to June 2019).
The Minister further said that the Odisha government has not increased VAT on the fuel since January 2016 to keep the prices stable.
