Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Friday announced the operation of 62 Special Trains in March 2026 to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Holi festival.
With many set to travel to their native places and key cultural and religious destinations during the festive period, these special train services are being introduced to provide safe, comfortable, and convenient travel options across southern, eastern, central, and northern India.
The special trains will connect important routes, including Sambalpur–Erode, Visakhapatnam–Tirupati, Visakhapatnam–SMVB Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam–Charlapalli, Visakhapatnam–Shalimar, Puri–Patna, Puri–Udna, Bhubaneswar–Yeshvantpur, and Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad, among others. These services are designed to ease pressure on regular trains and reduce waiting lists during the peak festive period.
ECoR officials stated that passenger demand will be closely monitored, with additional special trains or extra coaches to be added wherever necessary. The railway has also strengthened operational preparedness and crowd management measures at major stations to ensure smooth operations.
Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedules, halts, and booking status through official Indian Railways enquiry systems or the IRCTC website and app for real-time updates.
