Odisha Elections: Adrija Asks Naveen How BJD Fielded Balangir Royal Family Member Despite Her Domestic Violence Allegation

Bhubaneswar: Adrija Manjari Singh, who had made domestic violence allegation against her husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo and in-laws, sought to know as to how the ruling BJD fielded a member of the royal family for the upcoming elections in Odisha.

Adrija, who had levelled domestic violence and dowry torture allegations against Arkesh and her in-laws in May last year, sought to know from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as to how a member of the family accused of inflicting atrocities against a women has been given BJD ticket to contest election.

“I wonder how ‘a family that has done so much atrocities against a woman in their own house has been given ticket by BJD,” she told the media, while seeking the CM to answer.

Taking a swipe at Naveen and BJD for their claims about women empowerment in the state, Adrija said, “What kind of respect is this for women in Odisha.”

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, elder brother of Arkesh, has been fielded by the ruling BJD from Balangir Assembly constituency.

Stating that she will narrate the tale of domestic violence perpetrated on her to the people, Adrija said her aim is to get justice.

Making it clear that she has no plan to join any political party or campaign for any candidate, she said she will visit places in Balangir and tell people about atrocities by the royal family.

Responding to the claims made by Adrija, Arkesh targeted veteran Congress leader Narasingha Mishra over the episode accusing the grand old party of being behind the ‘politically motivated stunt.’
