Bhubaneswar: CPI (M) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have announced their candidates for Odisha for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
While CPI(M) on Thursday announced its candidates for one Lok Sabha and seven Assembly constituencies, AAP has released a list of nominees for 37 Assembly seats in the state.
CPI (M) has nominated veteran party leader Suresh Panigrahy from Bhubaneswar Parliamentary constituency. Panigrahy happens to be the state secretary of the party, a senior CPI (M) leader said.
Similarly, CPI(M) has renominated sitting MLA Laxman Munda for Banai Assembly seat in Sundargarh district. The tribal dominated constituency happens to be a party stronghold where it won the last three Assembly polls.
While Joganand Das has been fielded from Nilagiri Assembly seat in Balasore district, youth leader Saroj Nayan has been nominated from Ranapur Assembly segment in Nayagarh district and Girish Maharana from Khurda Assembly segment.
CPI(M) has given ticket to Badri Narayan Das in Salepur, while peasant leader Mrutyunjay Behera has been fielded from Morada in Mayurbhanj district and tribal leader Raghunath Hantal from Chitrakonda Assembly seat in Malkangiri district.
