Odisha Elections: Unique Postcard Appeal To Parents By School Students To Vote
Malkangiri: With the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha coming closer, students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Malkangiri district have launched a unique drive to make their parents aware of the importance of casting votes.
As part of their novel effort, more than 300 girls and boys of the school located in the tribal-dominated district have sent messages to their parents through postcards with an appeal to exercise their franchise in the upcoming polls.
Stating they are very proud to be in a democratic country like India, the students said today’s children are going to become responsible citizens in future. It is the duty of every citizen to cast vote in elections to ensure a good future for the country.
Development of their village, district and state depends on selection of proper candidate in the election, they said, appealing to their parents to visit the polling booths on the voting day and cast their precious vote.
Hailing the initiative made by the students, teachers of the school said that the children themselves came out with the idea of sending an appeal to their parents. “It is a very good idea. Parents will definitely listen to their children and exercise their franchise,” said a teacher.
The efforts made by the students will go a long way in ensuring greater participation in the upcoming elections, said another teacher.
