Bhubaneswar: General manager (P&A) of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Dipti Mahapatro was presented “Electric Women in Transport 2022″ award by Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI), GIZ and Women Mobilize Women on Monday.
The award was conferred on Dipti at a function organised to felicitate 15 outstanding women globally who are working towards promoting E-Mobility and striving to transform transportation sector by making it greener, sustainable and inclusive.
Dipti was instrumental in working towards improving Odisha’s transportation sector. Her efforts to promote gender inclusive public transportation, in which E-Vehicles are driven by women, transgender and people from disadvantaged sections of the society have contributed towards improvement of the city’s public transportation system.
Speaking on the occasion, she said, “It has been an incredible experience with CRUT in transforming the way we looked at public transportation in Odisha. I have attempted to bring in something new that will assist people from all walks of life to earn a livelihood in a respectable manner. The introduction of E-Rickshaw and getting women and transgender to drive it was another feather in the cap. With the E-Bus soon to be launched, it will be a significant advancement in the field of green and sustainable public transportation.”
