Odisha: Family Tied Up, House Torched In Premeditated Attack, Narrowly Escapes

Nimapara: A family at Chhabatia village under Nimapara block in Odisha’s Puri district narrowly escaped a premeditated murder attempt after unidentified assailants allegedly tied them up and torched their house late at night.

According to sources, six miscreants reportedly broke into the house of one Gunannidhi Swain on the night April

17. They then tied up the hands, legs, and necks of Swain’s wife and son and set it on fire. Swain, however, managed to break free from the assailants and raised an alarm, following which neighbours rushed to the scene and rescued the trapped family members from the burning house.

On being informed, Fire Service personnel from Nimapara also arrived at the spot and doused the blaze.

Visuals from the aftermath, showing the damaged house and the distressed family, have gone viral on social media, sparking panic.

Police suspect the assault was a well-planned conspiracy over a past rivalry. A complaint has been registered at the Nimapara police station, and an investigation is underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
